The Lemon Bay Manta Rays will head out to challenge the Cypress Lake Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lemon Bay's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past East Lee County 52-0. That 52 point margin sets a new team best for the Manta Rays this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Carlos Serrano and Drew Moormann. Serrano rushed for 163 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry while Moormann rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Moormann a new career-high.
Lemon Bay was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 271 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Cypress Lake blew past Island Coast, posting a 51-7 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Gators are ranked 485th) , the win last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cypress Lake's defense made their presence known, laying out Terrance Taylor Jr three times. In that department, Zayne Kimpland was the leader with two sacks. Cypress Lake received some extra help from Audrique Noel, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Cypress Lake has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.3 points over those games. As for Lemon Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Lemon Bay has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 283 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Cypress Lake, though, as they've been averaging only 54.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Lemon Bay took a serious blow against Cypress Lake when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 47-6. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Manta Rays were down 26-0.
