It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the West Washington Senators ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by Christian Academy 57-56. The win was all the more spectacular given West Washington's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while Christian Academy is ranked 111th).
Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being David Cook, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cook has scored all season. Joshua Renfro was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
West Washington's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.
West Washington will head out on the road to take on Orleans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orleans will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something West Washington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Crothersville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three games.
