The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets waltzed into their contest Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 40-36 W over Mapletown. That's another feather in the cap for Jefferson-Morgan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jefferson-Morgan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Woodward, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Woodward is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jase Bedilion, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Jefferson-Morgan's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Mapletown, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Jefferson-Morgan will challenge Monessen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monessen knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Jefferson-Morgan likes a good challenge. As for Mapletown, they will be playing at home against California at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully California focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
