The Blackstone-Millville Chargers will take on the Boston Collegiate Hurricanes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Blackstone-Millville didn't have quite enough to beat Keefe Tech and fell 2-1. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Boston Collegiate was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Salem Academy Charter. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Ronan Carlson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Boston Collegiate got a massive performance out of Jonathan Calisi, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. The Hurricanes are undefeated when Calisi posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Liam Denver, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Boston Collegiate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salem Academy Charter only posted a batting average of .241.
Boston Collegiate has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Blackstone-Millville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.
Blackstone-Millville took their victory against Boston Collegiate in their previous meeting on May 3rd by a conclusive 13-7 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
