The De La Salle Meteors are taking a road trip to square off against the Oak Lawn Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. De La Salle is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
De La Salle can't be too worried about heading out to take on Oak Lawn: they just beat Richards at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Meteors came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 4-1 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Meteors have won by exactly three runs.

Beckett Hulten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because De La Salle is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-19 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Oisin Curry was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Daniel Rocha was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Oak Lawn made sure to put some runs up on the board against Solorio on Friday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Sun Warriors with a sharp 17-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 17 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jack Westin looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Melnik, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Jackson Hilger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Oak Lawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Oak Lawn pushed their record up to 21-12 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for De La Salle, their record now sits at 12-21.
De La Salle beat Oak Lawn 9-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Meteors repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
