The Swink Lions lost against the Crowley County Chargers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Swink falling 51-37. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Crowley County is ranked 42nd).
When it comes to explaining why Swink lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nate Cabrera. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Bauserman, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Swink bumped their record down to 5-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Crowley County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swink won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cheyenne Wells at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Cheyenne Wells focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Crowley County, they will head out on the road to square off against Las Animas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Animas has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-3 during that stretch of close contests.
