The Jasper-Troupsburg Wildcats struggled with assists on Monday (the Avoca-Prattsburgh Titans had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Jasper-Troupsburg was outmatched by Avoca-Prattsburgh on the road and fell 74-36. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jasper-Troupsburg in their matchups with Avoca-Prattsburgh: they've now lost seven in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Zver, who scored ten points along with five assists. Zver scored a full 27.8% of Jasper-Troupsburg's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jacoby VanGorden was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Macoy Putnam had an outrageously good game for Avoca-Prattsburgh as he dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. The game was Putnam's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Hammond, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Jasper-Troupsburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Avoca-Prattsburgh, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jasper-Troupsburg will face off against Elba at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Avoca-Prattsburgh, they will head out on the road to face off against Hammondsport at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hammondsport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Avoca-Prattsburgh is ranked 100th).
