Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Wasatch

Maple Mountain came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Wasatch, but Mahala Speredon wouldn't allow it. The Wasatch Wasps walked away with a 71-60 victory over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles on Tuesday thanks in part to Speredon, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Maple Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leah Bailey went 9 for 14 en route to 27 points and six steals. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Autumn Jones, who posted 13 points.

The win made it two in a row for Wasatch and bumps their season record up to 15-3. As for Maple Mountain, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11.

Wasatch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-42 victory against Timpview on the 31st. Maple Mountain has also already played their next matchup, a 53-50 win against Spanish Fork on the 31st.
