The Roane County Yellowjackets will challenge the Midway Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roane County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Roane County's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Meigs County hitters got past them. Roane County came out on top against Meigs County by a score of 14-10 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Carson Ladd and Blake Herrell made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ladd tossed 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Herrell struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Ladd has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ladd went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Herrell went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Herrell a new career-high.
In other batting news, Roane County got a massive performance out of Aaron Layne, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson McAmis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Roane County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Midway was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Harriman. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Caiden Brewer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Midway is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise. Brewer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Dawson Buckner was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Midway: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Travis Shaw, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Roane County's win bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Midway, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Roane County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Midway struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
