The UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES will take on the Molina Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. UME Preparatory Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
UME Preparatory Academy took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Village Tech get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the EAGLES as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Bethany Gonzales was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gonzales was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Holland, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Jenevive Fleming was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
UME Preparatory Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Molina). They blew past South Oak Cliff 14-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Jaguars have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Keniya Young was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Reyes, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Molina and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs over those games. As for UME Preparatory Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4-1.
