The Marcellus Mustangs put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 55-36 victory over Cazenovia. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Marcellus also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Marcellus was led to victory by Will Burnett and Tucker Burnett. Burnett scored ten points along with eight steals, while Burnett scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals. Burnett continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Will Kershaw was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Marcellus' win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.11 points. As for Cazenovia, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marcellus will be home for the holidays to greet Skaneateles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Skaneateles will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Marcellus is ranked fifth). Cazenovia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bishop Grimes at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
