The San Rafael Bulldogs will challenge the Marin Catholic Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with San Rafael sitting on three straight victories and Marin Catholic on seven.
San Rafael is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Terra Linda with a sharp 15-1 win last Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Thomara Drummer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, San Rafael got a massive performance out of Amy Serrano, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave Serrano a new career-high. Cherise Castagne also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
San Rafael was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Marin Catholic took on Albany on Thursday. The Wildcats never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.
Not much got past Malliah Foster, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Albany off the board.
On the hitting side, Anna Held was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Marin Catholic pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Rafael, their record now sits at 6-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. San Rafael has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marin Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
San Rafael came out on top in a nail-biter against Marin Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
