Baseball Recap: Pillow Academy Gets the Win

Pillow Academy saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They skirted past the Hatley Tigers 5-3.

Jack Kirk tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Chamberlain McClain was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Brantley Counts also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pillow Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Hatley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Pillow Academy will challenge Heritage Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Heritage Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hatley, they will face off against West Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Harrison has four straight victories, Hatley has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
