The Pueblo Central Wildcats will take on the Falcon Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pueblo Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Falcon will be up against a hot Pueblo Central squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against Denver East. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.
Anthony Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Pueblo Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Haney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Haney has posted since back in March. Another was Colton Calderon, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Falcon narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Elizabeth 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
David Ada made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Ada was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
Falcon's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. As for Pueblo Central, their record is now 10-5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pueblo Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pueblo Central might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Falcon in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
