With a playoff win on the line, Lehi rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Skyridge Falcons get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Mya Maughan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other pitching news, not much got past Abbi Harroun, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Skyridge off the board. Harroun has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Camry Wassmer and Sophie Bliss did most of the damage at the plate: Wassmer went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Bliss went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Brynlee Cook was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Lehi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyridge only posted a batting average of .148.
The win was the tenth in a row for Lehi, bringing their record up to 22-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Skyridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season.
Lehi didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 win against Davis on the 20th. Skyridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
