The Fairmont Prep Huskies waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 49-36 victory over Capistrano Valley Christian. Given Fairmont Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Capistrano Valley Christian is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Capistrano Valley Christian still got an impressive performance from Cetin Seles, who scored 11 points. Michael Ahern was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Fairmont Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they bumped their record down to 9-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont Prep will take on San Gabriel Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Gabriel Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Fairmont Prep likes a good challenge. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against NOVA Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. NOVA Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
