Ardrey Kell has gone a perfect 10-0 against Berry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Ardrey Kell Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Berry Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Ardrey Kell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Berry's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ardrey Kell took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Watauga.
Ardrey Kell's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew Bria, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Bryce Mancz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berry). Everything went their way against Chambers on Monday as Berry made off with a 21-4 win. With that victory, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Tyler Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Davis was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Berry's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Aiden Lowery looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, Marquise McNair was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eddy Berihuete, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Berry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ardrey Kell pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Berry, their record now sits at 3-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ardrey Kell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Berry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Ardrey Kell's way against Berry when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Ardrey Kell made off with a 19-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ardrey Kell since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
