The LaConner Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Oakville 56-35. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for LaConner considering their 20-point performance the contest before.
LaConner found their leader in underclassman Maeve Mccormick, who scored 26 points along with seven steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mccormick has scored at least 25% of LaConner's points. Another player making a difference was Shaniquah Casey, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Loss or not, Oakville got some senior leadership from Alyssa Forsythe who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds and Laela Baker who scored ten points along with four steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Mendez, who scored eight points.
LaConner pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.67 points. As for Oakville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LaConner will square off against Squalicum at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakville will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Pe Ell at 5:45 p.m. on December 20th. Pe Ell's defense has only allowed 25.5 points per game this season, so Oakville's offense will have their work cut out for Oakville.
