LeRoy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Althoff Catholic Crusaders at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, LeRoy was fully in charge, breezing past Villa Grove 45-14 at home.
Meanwhile, Althoff Catholic had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They breezed by Tuscola at home to the tune of 76-41. Given Althoff Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Tuscola is ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Althoff Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aj Strong, who rushed for 369 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 19.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ellington, who rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
LeRoy's victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Fisher and 2-7 Meridian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.6% over those games). As for Althoff Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
