It was a good run, but the Amistad Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 51-43 to Middletown. While losing is never fun, Amistad can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Blue Dragons are ranked 20th).
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was LaShaya Patterson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Patterson is crushing the block category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Fatema Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Middletown found their leader in underclassman Tessa Porch, who scored 23 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shalyn Smith, who scored four points along with nine assists and six steals.
Amistad's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for Middletown, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Amistad will take on the Lawmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Middletown, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Rams at 6:45 p.m. on January 25th.
