The Huntley Red Raiders waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Jacobs 52-50. For Huntley, this counts as revenge for the 48-46 defeat Jacobs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Jacobs still got an impressive performance from Nolan Roper, who scored 24 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Roper scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Jurzak, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Huntley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. As for Jacobs, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
Huntley will head out on the road to take on Crystal Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Crystal Lake Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Tuesday. As for Jacobs, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Charles East at 1:30 p.m. on January 27th.
