The Exeter Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the Reedley Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Exeter pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Hanford West on the road by a decisive 71-55 margin. Exeter has struggled against Hanford West recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aden Plyman, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadon Hughes, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Reedley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 87-52 loss at the hands of Central Valley Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Reedley has suffered yet this season.
Exeter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Reedley, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-13.
Exeter beat Reedley 52-42 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Exeter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
