Dayton and Spring Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Dust Devils will challenge the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dayton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Dayton was handed an 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past Lassen 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dust Devils as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

LaSade Conti made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st.
Conti wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Esmeralda Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Sofia Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Dayton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lassen only posted a batting average of .115.
Meanwhile, Spring Creek came up short against Lassen on Saturday, falling 15-1.
The victory got Dayton back to even at 12-12. As for Spring Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17-1 record this season.
Spring Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dayton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Spring Creek, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Dayton's sizable advantage in that area, the Spartans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Dayton couldn't quite finish off Spring Creek when the teams last played back in March of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Dust Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
