After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Allen Park, Carlson was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Riverview Pirates with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Marauders have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cooper Farago tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Connor Rankin and Noah Borowski did most of the damage at the plate: Rankin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Borowski got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Carlson is undefeated when Borowski posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Matthew MacBride was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Carlson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Riverview, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-17.

Carlson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair will be back at it again later today.
