The Maranatha Christian Eagles came tearing into Tuesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.6 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand Guajome Park Academy a 1-0 shutout. Diego Esparza had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Maranatha Christian.
Maranatha Christian pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those seven games. As for Guajome Park Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-4-2 record this season.
Coincidentally, Maranatha Christian and Guajome Park Academy will both be playing Army-Navy the next time they take the pitch. Maranatha Christian will head out to face Army-Navy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Guajome Park Academy will host them on Thursday.
