Meanwhile, Springs Valley hadn't done well against Perry Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blackhawks walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Commodores. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Mackey Lowe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Braylon Kovas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
The win got Springs Valley back to even at 8-8. As for Trinity Lutheran, their record now sits at 6-7.
Trinity Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against Springs Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
