Trinity has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Redding Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trinity focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
Trinity's 23-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 64-52 to Hayfork. That's two games in a row now that Trinity has lost by exactly 12 points.
Despite the loss, Trinity saw an underclassman step up: Carver Dresselhaus scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. The contest was Dresselhaus' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Poburko, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Redding Christian also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Corning by a score of 50-40. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Redding Christian came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Corning is ranked 900th).
The losses dropped Trinity to 3-5 and Hayfork to 2-2.
Trinity was able to grind out a solid win over Redding Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 57-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
