The Clemens Buffaloes will venture away from home to challenge the Steele Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clemens' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Steele's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Clemens is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Judson on Friday. Considering the Buffaloes have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophia Valencia spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alexus Worthy, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and six RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Brianna Neel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Worthy wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Clemens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Steele had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Jaguars. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.
Steele also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Avery BrAdy gave up five earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Steele let Autumn Schaffee and Sara Ramirez run wild. Schaffee went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Ramirez went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that Schaffee launched this season.
Clemens' record now sits at 14-5. As for Steele, their record now sits at 13-8.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clemens hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Steele struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clemens might still be hurting after the 14-6 loss they got from Steele in their previous meeting back in February. Can Clemens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
