Los Fresnos and the Cardinals are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Los Fresnos Falcons will be playing at home against the Harlingen Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Los Fresnos entered their tilt with the Greyhounds with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Los Fresnos came out on top against the Greyhounds by a score of 56-44 on Friday. Given Los Fresnos' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 1127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Los Fresnos' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jj Salazar, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Andrew Munoz, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Harlingen can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Rivera at home to the tune of 71-39. Harlingen pushed the score to 57-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders had little chance of recovering from.
Los Fresnos has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season. As for Harlingen, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 29-5.
Los Fresnos couldn't quite finish off the Cardinals in their previous matchup back in January and fell 80-78. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Harlingen's Andrew Galdamez, who scored 26 points.
