There's no place like home for the Poudre Impalas, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past Lakewood with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 50-36. The victory was just what Poudre needed coming off of a 46-25 defeat in their prior game.
Poudre's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kavi Voglund, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Samantha Orr was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Lakewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keeley Arnold, who scored 13 points. Arnold continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Iben Last, who scored ten points along with three blocks.
Lakewood struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Poudre's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lakewood, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poudre will square off against Douglas County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
