2A District 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Foundation Academy's kevin Sullivan rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 4 this season in his game against Mount Dora Bible last week. Sullivan's team defeated the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 60 yards on the play and finished with 105 in all.
Foundation Academy moved up to 361 from 413 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Brad Lord's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 47-13 win over Mount Dora Bible.
Alec Thompson put up the best numbers through the air as the Lions beat Stephen Cochran's team. He finished with a total of five completions for 100 yards and one touchdown. Thompson's favorite target this week was Peyton Guilford, who caught three passes for 60 yards.
Jeremiah Sams was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 303 yards as Lake Mary Prep beat Trinity Prep. Teammate Lewis lll added to the ground attack by rushing for 87 yards.
Lewis lll was the best wideout in 2A District 4 this week as the Griffins defeated the Saints. Lewis lll tallied four receptions for 144 yards. Sams helped Lake Mary Prep's passing attack out by catching three balls for 50 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Thompson of Foundation Academy is the league leader in passing yards this season with 621. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Lake Mary Prep's Sams has rushed for 1266 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lewis lll. The Lake Mary Prep star has nine catches for 293 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Lions take on Agape Christian Academy. Foundation Academy is in second place, while the Saints are in fourth place.
Buck Gurley's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Trinity Prep, 43-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
