Baseball Recap: Rivera Has No Trouble Against Porter

Rivera put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They blew past the Porter Cowboys 9-0. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Derrick Villarreal's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marcos Guerrero was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Lozano, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Rivera's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Porter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rivera will take on rival Donna North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Porter is set to face off against their familiar foe Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
