In what's become a running theme this season, South Lake gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They put the hurt on Windermere with a sharp 50-24 win. The win was just what South Lake needed coming off of a 56-35 loss in their prior matchup.
South Lake can attribute much of their success to Kaylin Cockefair, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, and Anyah Unelus, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Unelus' trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Jazmine Monroe was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Olympia's strategy against Poinciana on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Olympia blew Poinciana out of the water with a 53-21 final score. That looming 53-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Olympia yet this season.
Arlinda Roundtree was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Clark, who scored ten points along with six steals and five assists.
South Lake's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Olympia, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
South Lake skirted past Olympia 43-40 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Does South Lake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Olympia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
