Even though the McQueen Lancers have not done well against the Douglas Tigers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McQueen narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Douglas 72-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kade Snyder was a one-man wrecking crew for McQueen as he dropped a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alex Hancock, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Douglas' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Caden Thacker, who scored 27 points along with 3 steals, and Jett Lehmann who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. Reese Torres was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Douglas were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McQueen only pulled down nine.
McQueen's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Douglas, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
McQueen will square off against Washington Union at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington Union will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 841st in California, while McQueen is ranked 15th in Nevada). As for Douglas, they will square off against Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
