Even though the Bellaire Cardinals scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Dickinson Gators still came out on top. Dickinson took their game against Bellaire 63-56. Given Dickinson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Bellaire is ranked 673rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bellaire's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyniah Smith, who scored 22 points along with 9 rebounds. Smith scored a full 39.3% of Bellaire's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Indiana Pak, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals.
Dickinson pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Bellaire, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Dickinson is on the road again on Friday and play against Tomball Memorial at 9:00 a.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Tomball Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Bellaire, they will face off against Sam Rayburn at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
