The Riesel Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Marlin, falling 73-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Riesel has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marlin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aarik Smith-shelley, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Smith-shelley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jerry Willis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Riesel has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Marlin, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.
Riesel will head out on the road to challenge Wortham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wortham is on a three-game streak of home losses, Riesel a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Marlin will take on Hubbard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
