Baseball Recap: Galatia/Thompsonville Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Galatia/Thompsonville had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Eli Hankins made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and two doubles while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colin Jenkins, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Sais, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Galatia/Thompsonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norris City-Omaha-Enfield only posted an OBP of .280.

Galatia/Thompsonville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

As of now, neither Galatia/Thompsonville nor the Fighting Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
