It was a good run, but the South Fremont Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Snake River. South Fremont lost against Snake River in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 83-38 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why South Fremont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brianne Bailey. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with seven assists and seven steals. That was a full 50% of South Fremont's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Larson, who scored eight points.
South Fremont's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3. As for Snake River, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Fremont will challenge Teton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Teton is on a six-game streak of home wins, South Fremont a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Snake River, they will head out on the road to challenge Marsh Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marsh Valley is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
