1A Western Slope recap November 13, 2013
Paonia extended the longest winning streak in 1A Western Slope this week by beating Monte Vista, 31-15. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Paonia took down the Pirates 31-15 last week, the largest margin of any game. Will Austin ran for 227 yards during the win.
Brent McRae's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Taylor Walters threw for 111 and 1 touchdown and Josh Altman had 39 yards receiving. On the ground Austin contributed 227 yards. Joel Simianer helped Paonia's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 33 yards.

Austin was a force in the backfield as Paonia topped Manny Wassinger's team.
Austin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles bested the Pirates.
Cedaredge's Trent Walker and Kyle Ward led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Walker has thrown for 1,218 yards this season, while Ward has 50 catches for 747 yards. Walters from Paonia leads the league in rushing with 1,731 yards.
Alex Smith has rushed for 914 yards on 133 carries so far this year.
The Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,385 from 4,845. The improvement was largely due to a 31-15 victory over Monte Vista last week.
