The Lutheran Lions were the 69-47 winner over the St. Mary's Pirates when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lutheran was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 36-35 to St. Mary's.
Lutheran's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayda Vigil, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela-zoe Colon, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Lutheran will take on Pueblo West at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Mary's, they will head out on the road to face off against Banning Lewis Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
