Curwensville hasn't had much luck against Mount Union recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Golden Tide will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mount Union will be up against a hot Curwensville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Golden Tide's pitcher stepped up to hand Moshannon Valley a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Tide this season.
Addison Siple made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Curwensville let Kylah Wos and Ava Hainsey run wild. Wos went 1-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple, while Hainsey got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Wos a new career-high. Addison Warren was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Curwensville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mount Union made easy work of Northern Bedford County on Tuesday and carried off an 11-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
Payton Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks.
On the hitting side, Sydnee Harris was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylynn Wharton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Curwensville pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Union, their record is now 5-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Curwensville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mount Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Curwensville might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Mount Union in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Tide avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
