Baseball Recap: Apex Friendship Find Success

Apex Friendship won the last time they faced Cardinal Gibbons and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Apex Friendship Patriots came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders, sneaking past 10-8. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly two runs.

Drew Ciaccio was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Hayden Fones also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Apex Friendship kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Apex Friendship and bumps their season record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Gibbons, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apex Friendship will square off against Green Hope at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Apex Friendship is facing Green Hope at the right time seeing as Green Hope is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will challenge Enloe at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Gibbons' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Enloe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
