The Patrick Henry Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Liberty Center Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Patrick Henry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
Last Monday, Patrick Henry was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Fairview. Patrick Henry has struggled against Fairview recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Patrick Henry's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kya Seemann, who scored 13 points, and Sophie Guelde who scored ten points along with two steals. Guelde continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Prigge, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Liberty Center stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Bluffton, posting a 67-39 victory at home. Given Liberty Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Bluffton is ranked 493rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Patrick Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Liberty Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Patrick Henry didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Liberty Center in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patrick Henry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
