Softball Recap: Stevens Point Has No Trouble Against Wausau West

Stevens Point came out on top against Wausau West on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Panthers have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reanna Canfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addi Peskie was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Lavelle Canfield also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Stevens Point is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Wausau West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Stevens Point is set to face off against their familiar foe Marshfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wausau West will square off against rival Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
