The biggest upset of the week belonged to Walnut Ridge, who took down 189th ranked Eastmoor Academy, 21-6. Marquez Toney threw for 171 yards and one touchdown in the win.
The Scots moved up to 244 from 301 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Columbus City - South. Walnut Ridge was able to make the jump by beating the Warriors 21-6.
Joe Alverson threw for 134 yards and three touchdowns. He went five-nine with one interceptions.
Rob Wheelwright was the best wideout in the league this week as Byron Mattox's team bested Eastmoor Academy. Wheelwright racked up seven receptions for 131 yards. Malik Robinson helped Walnut Ridge's passing attack out by catching two balls for 39 yards.
Vincent Rambo was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 300 yards as Independence beat James Miranda's team. Kevon Jones also contributed to the rushing game with 62 yards on the ground.
Walnut Ridge's Toney and Wheelwright have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Columbus City - South in both passing and receiving yards. Toney has thrown for 1058 yards this season, while Wheelwright, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 37 catches for 689 yards. The 76ers' Rambo leads the league in rushing yards with 1521.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Warriors take on Marion-Franklin. Eastmoor Academy is in fourth place, while the Red Devils are in first place.
Marion-Franklin extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating West, 53-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
