The Odyssey Charter Owls will challenge the Dickinson Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Odyssey Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Odyssey Charter barely beat DuPont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Owls put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 16-4 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Owls as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Gannon Lutes made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Lutes was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Odyssey Charter let Tre Reed and Dante Begatto run wild. Reed scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Begatto scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Begatto also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Elijah Ramos was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-6.
Odyssey Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DuPont only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Dickinson was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to Christiana.
Dickinson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Quigley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Odyssey Charter picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Dickinson, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Dickinson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Odyssey Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Dickinson, though, as they've only averaged .197. Will they be able to contain Odyssey Charter's hitters?
Odyssey Charter skirted past Dickinson 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
