The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Van Horn has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Blue Valley Northwest will arrive with 16 straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Van Horn suffered a tough 56-34 defeat at the hands of Grain Valley. While losing is never fun, Van Horn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Grain Valley is ranked 53rd).
Meanwhile, Blue Valley Northwest was able to grind out a solid win over Bentonville West on Saturday, taking the game 54-41.
Blue Valley Northwest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Fritz, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fritz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Klein, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Van Horn's defeat was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. As for Blue Valley Northwest, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
