Softball Recap: Bruce Triumphs

Bruce's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Water Valley Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Sadie Box, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Turner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Bruce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Water Valley only posted an OBP of .095.

Bruce's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Water Valley, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruce will venture away from home to square off against Calhoun City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calhoun City knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Bruce likes a good challenge. As for Water Valley, they will square off against Rosa Fort at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rosa Fort has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.17 runs per game on average), something Water Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
