Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bishop Gorman

Bishop Gorman barely beat Faith Lutheran the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gaels put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 15-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Gaels have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

MADISON RUCKS made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bishop Gorman got a massive performance out of PRESLEE SMITH, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs SMITH has posted since back in March. RAELYNN BROWN also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Bishop Gorman lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Lutheran didn't launched any home runs.

The victory (which was Bishop Gorman's third in a row) raised their record to 12-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Lutheran, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bishop Gorman will challenge rival Silverado at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran is set to square off against their familiar foe Green Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
