Meanwhile, St. Petersburg Catholic strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past Southwest Florida Christian to the tune of 56-7. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Barons had established a 42-point advantage.
Victory Christian Academy better keep an eye on Chase Burrill. He was instrumental in St. Petersburg Catholic's win, throwing for 196 yards and five TDs. Burrill is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. 87 of Burrill's passing yards were hauled in by Yorel Stewart, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
St. Petersburg Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
One reason for the win was St. Petersburg Catholic's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: De'Vion Frazier, Courtney Taylor, and Racoy Taylor, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Southwest Florida Christian's side was Frazier, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
St. Petersburg Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Victory Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
